Summer Projects: OpenScholar speaker series and Rusticator

*|MC:SUBJECT|*

I'm excited to share two projects I've been working on that will run through the summer.

The first is a speaker series I've organized with
OpenScholar around the topic "Science is Beautiful". OpenScholar helps research institutions and their faculty produce professional, research-centric websites to share with the world. Dr. Gamaliel Herrera kicked off the series last week with a discussion about how he approaches collecting contemporary art through the lens of a radiologist. Tomorrow, please tune in to Lucy Kim,
who will be speaking about her artist-in-residency at the Broad Institute. For the next six weeks we will be speaking with artists, curators, collectors, scientists, professors and doctors to learn more about the intersection of the arts and science.

The second project brought me to Mount Desert Island, a place that is near and dear to my heart. Laura Pierce,  Founder and Principal Designer of Keeler & Co., is opening Rusticator, a design studio and gift shop in Seal Harbor, Maine. Laura asked me to curate a selection of works for the studio that compliment her incredible aesthetic. Listen to my interview with Laura on the Girl Pow podcast where we talk about her vision and approach to working with clients.

Wishing you all a safe and healthy summer,

-Hadley

Rusticator, Seal Harbor, ME
I've curated a selection of artwork by artists Melanie Essex, Nancy Simonds, Julia Powell, Deborah Weiss and Dan Miller that are available at Rusticator in Seal Harbor, ME. We wanted to exhibit a group of artists who have deep connections to Maine, but interpret their experience through different media and subjects.

Rusticator is a place to discover timeless, well-crafted and impeccably tailored pieces for everyday living. The shop opens in July and will be accessible both in person and virtually.
