Powell Fine Art Advisory’s 2025 Recap

2025 By The Numbers

A small glimpse into a year that felt full, busy, and deeply rewarding.

  • 227 pieces framed

  • 8 art fairs visited

  • 2 yachts serviced

  • 2 new team members

  • 1 new van

  • Endless amount of matchas consumed

2025 Project Highlights

These are just a few of the projects we loved working on this past year, each shaped by its setting and the way our clients live with art.

From a light-filled coastal home in Hobe Sound - where works ranged from a monumental Andrew Faulkner to intimate Ashley Zipp pieces - to a desert retreat anchored by a commissioned Molly Hatch ceramic inspired by Camelback Mountain, our approach remained deeply site-specific. In a Boston penthouse, architectural clarity and a luminous Lita Albuquerque set the tone, while a New Hampshire lakehouse embraced warmth and materiality through a Billy Childish over the mantel and thoughtfully framed Polly Apfelbaum works.

New Team Members

As our work expanded in 2025, so did our team. We were pleased to welcome new members who support our advisory, handling, and creative efforts. Read more about about Dan and Anne on our website!

Noteworthy Commissions

Commissioned works offer the opportunity to collaborate directly with an artist to create a piece that responds to a specific space, scale, or vision. This year’s commissions reflected thoughtful dialogue and a shared commitment to work that feels both personal and enduring, below are four of our favorite commissioned pieces from 2025.

Fairs, Exhibitions and Auctions

Arrival Art Fair - North Adams, MA (June): This emerging fair continued to grow in influence, offering a fresh look at rising contemporary voices and providing us an early glimpse at several artists poised for wider recognition. We’re looking forward to seeing how the fair evolves in the years ahead!

Andy Goldsworthy 50 Year Retrospective - Scotland (July): Hadley attended Goldsworthy’s landmark retrospective in Scotland, a rare chance to experience five decades of work shaped by time, place, and the natural world.

The Armory Show - New York, NY (September): Always a marquee event, the 2025 edition delivered strong presentations from both blue-chip galleries and bold newcomers. It was a year where material experimentation and large-scale abstraction truly stood out.

Art on Paper - New York, NY (September): Art on Paper reinforced the strength of works on paper, with artists pushing the medium through sculptural techniques, unconventional materials, and intricate handwork that resonated with collectors.

Dinorá Justice Exhibition at Gallery Naga - Boston, MA (November - December 20th): Justice’s exhibition offered a powerful and intimate look at identity, color, and gesture. Her work drew significant attention this season and further affirmed her growing relevance in contemporary painting.

Grogan Fine Jewelry Auction - Boston, MA (November): The November auction delivered energized bidding for modern and postwar masters while also showing continued momentum for ultra-contemporary artists, a trend that defined the year across major auction houses.

Art Basel Miami Beach - Miami Beach, FL (December): Basel once again showcased an impressive global cross-section of contemporary art. This year we were especially inspired by dynamic presentations from Latin American and African artists, reflecting broader shifts in collector interest and institutional focus.

Behind the Scenes

Looking Ahead to 2026

2025 was a year of meaningful expansion for the Powell Fine Art Advisory team, from welcoming new team members to taking on projects in new states, and we’re deeply grateful for the opportunities it brought.

It also marked the thoughtful build-out of Cypress, our forthcoming art-handling company debuting in early 2026. Cypress is a natural evolution of the work we’ve carried quietly behind the scenes for years, now taking shape as its own dedicated service. Keep an eye out for the Cypress tree!
