Highlights from the Miami art fairs — 2017

Four days full of art fairs, museum exhibitions and private collections visits. Here are some of the works I found most interesting, grouped by where it was seen.

Hew Locke in front of his installation, The Wine Dark Sea at P.P.O.W. gallery

Artist Hew Locke was at the fair near his installation at P.P.O.W. Gallery. He had another installation we saw later in the day at the Perez Museum titled For Those in Peril on the Sea which consists of scaled-down replicas of ships suspended from the ceiling.

David Driskell and I in front of two of his works from the 1960s

Another great artist meeting was with David Driskell at D.C. Moore Gallery. I heard David speak this summer at the Colby Summer Luncheon where the Colby Museum presented him with the 2017 Cummings Award for Artistic Excellence.
